Day 6 - Phone Dates

I have committed to being thankful for something every day this month. My hope is that as I make an intentional effort to be thankful for the things I too often overlook, my heart will develop the habit of being grateful in all things. So, here I am on day 6 of this challenge....

There are some relationships that enter our lives that change us forever. They defy time, distance, crazy schedules, and bad attitudes.

A little over two years ago, I met a few friends that qualify for this category. At that particular point and time, I was incredibly bitter and defensive. These particular friends blew right past all that. They met me at my worst and loved me anyway. But there is one problem with these friendships...

All 4 of these women live in different states: New Hampshire, Nebraska, Virginia, and California.

As often as possible, we brave different time zones and messed up schedules to still do life with one another. We celebrate the big moments and small. Jenna  celebrated an engagement this week. I had the privilege of helping Ashley pursue her dreams for law school. I was able to encourage and be encouraged by Rachel this week as we both trust the Lord for the next step. And Brittany is always my constant encourager, optimist, and the one I laugh with.

Somehow, this week I was able to talk to all 4 of them. Phone dates are an amazing thing. I am so thankful for these friends who have fought with me to maintain these friendships when it would've been easier to give up after 2 years of physical absence. They are beautiful, strong, Godly women who have a passion to serve others, and run after the Lord with their whole hearts. I am so thankful to be able to pray for them and then see what God does.

So, today I am thankful for phone dates.

Will you join me in being thankful this month, or even this week? What are you thankful for today?
