After a couple weeks of craziness preparing for a writers conference, It's time for Five Minute Friday where a flash mob of writers join to write purely for the joy of it and then share our thoughts over at Lisa-Jo's. Today's word?
There is no way to grasp it right now. It slips through my fingers, silkier than water. Illusive. I can't catch it, bottle it, or buy it. I must use it, and use it wisely.
I'm learning more about making the most of every opportunity. A week in Haiti has created a lasting lesson. "Who of you can add a day to his life?" says the Lord.
My desire to cling is clearly an issue of control. And I need to let go. It's that balance between remembering and forgetting. So many times, the Lord charges His people to remember the things He did for them, the places He brought them from and to. Then in Isaiah, He tells them to forget the former things for He is doing something new. Don't you see it?
When I cling, grasping at thin air, I forget the beauty of surrender. Time will pass. It isn't a question but a certainty. Embrace it, move with it, surrender to the God who holds the clock in His hand. He holds my days and my destination. He knows the journey.
So, I think I'll grasp tightly to His hand and trust the One who controls all things. What a great lesson He teaches me from the beginnings of a scattered post.
Grasp
Next week will begin a new month. I had to prepare my calendar today. It seems I just changed months. Wasn't it just August? March? Time seems to fly. There is no way to grasp it right now. It slips through my fingers, silkier than water. Illusive. I can't catch it, bottle it, or buy it. I must use it, and use it wisely.

OH, how I want tocling to where Iam...it's easy here. I already know what's going on...or do I - it's in those moments I realize, that when I grasp onto HIM, I let go of my own need to control....now, if I can just get that to 'stick' every single moment!
ReplyDeleteAMEN sista! Stopping by from 5-Minute Friday. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteTime certainly slips too fast. So thankful through the passing of time God stays constant!!! Hallelujah from 5MF!
ReplyDeleteIf we're going to grasp at something, what better thing than His hand? Great post! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Christina! I'm so glad you stopped by!
ReplyDeleteOh that is a good reminder. He was, is, and always will be.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Dawn!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure feels like I know what is going on, but it doesn't take much to show me I don't have a clue. If you figure out how to develop a heart of surrender in every moment, please let me know! That is a daily battle for me!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from #5minFriday!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your reminder of "the beauty of surrender". It encourages me to reset my gaze on the One who controls my time. Thank you for you words.
You are very welcome. I'm so glad you stopped by! I need the reminder daily!
ReplyDelete"Time will pass." Will certainly does fly. I like you pray to use my time wisely but it does get eaten up by obligations and needs of a family. I need the wisdom to recognize the beauty in surrendering much of my time to the seemingly mundane. Great writing on the prompt.
ReplyDeleteI am also learning to forget the former things I used to grasp for and instead reach for what is ahead. Thanks for the reminder. :) Really needed it today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a hard and beautiful (and yes, sometimes sad) lesson this is! You're doing well to learn it now rather than later!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Jamie @ One Blessed Lady
Thanks, Jamie! Glad someone else gets it. :-) Thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteIt was a God-thing. Glad He used it! So glad you stopped by.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by! I have a feeling this will be a lifelong process.
